Ch-ch-ch-anges!

Those who know me well, know that I am never afraid to make a change, especially when it comes to work. Well, this is what has happened:

After my May follow-up appointments, and receiving the news that I will likely suffer from long-term side effects and a chronic condition for the foreseeable future, ie "always" (thank you, chemo and radiation - much appreciate the "gift"!), I knew that it was time to start making some large-scale changes, and reduce my life-work stress as much as possible.  Hence, a new position!

It's not that I didn't enjoy what I was doing as a legal project manager.  The work itself was a very good fit for me, but as I have said before, cancer really does change you.  The working environment that I was willing to tolerate before cancer, I was no longer willing to do.  So, I sourced a legal-based position that I am extremely excited about!  I am leaving the traditional law firm structure and the billable hour behind me, and taking on a role as an Implementation and Solutions Consultant working with a global company. This position will allow me to take everything I have learned in my legal career, as well as my previous retail career, and combine it into a unique set of skills and perspective that will serve me well in my new role. It is also a client-facing role, so some new clothes, an updated haircut and improved attention to my appearance are also welcome changes. I start my new job on Monday, August 28.

Another thing that I just recently noticed that has changed is that I am nowhere near as shy as I used to be. After 56 years of feeling awkward and self-conscious, my fingers are crossed that my social wall-flower days are behind me. I don't know if this change is due to getting older or because of breast cancer, but either way, it is a very welcome and unexpected change!

Since I had a week off between jobs, Dave and I headed out to Cedar Point, Ohio for a couple of days and enjoyed some world-class rollercoasters.  OMG - it was so much fun!  Between COVID and cancer, it had been years since we were last there and it felt great to get back to enjoying one of the things we love to do (albeit without quite as much energy as in our "younger" days).  I was a little concerned that all the rattling around would cause my boobie some grief, but only two rides caused some slight discomfort and I had no lasting issues - other than being beat the day after we got back, of course.

Next up in my journey is the after Breast Cancer Pink Diamond Gala on September 24.  This is where the S|HE Thrives 2024 Calendar will be unveiled.  None of us Ambassadors have seen any of the photos yet, so it will be quite the surprise for everyone.  I will have 100 calendars to sell, with all proceeds going to after Breast Cancer.  I don't have all of the details yet, but if you want me to add you to my list for a calendar, let me know!  Here is a link to after Breast Cancer, if you want to hear about all of its good works:  https://www.afterbreastcancer.ca/

Cheers for now!
Pam.
