An Early Christmas Present
I am the lucky recipient of an early Christmas gift - NED: N o E vidence of D isease! November was a busy month with all of my six-month imaging and various follow-up appointments. After a mammogram, MRI, ultrasound and blood work - and a new, fun state of mind called Scanxiety - everything is normal with no evidence of disease. All of this good news was topped off with my long-awaited genetic results. There are no mutations or variants to suggest that my cancer is a genetic concern. What a relief! It feels like a weight has been taken off my shoulders. Of course, it is still early in my survivorship and I am continuing to recover both physically and mentally, but everyday seems to be a little bit better than the day before. I don't meet with my onco doctor again until May. In the meantime, I am moving forward, continuing to navigate my new normal, and focusing on the things that are now clearly of the most importance to me. I can't say that I am in remission yet...
